Participant Information Sheet

Information about Participation in an Anonymous Online Survey

You are invited to take part in an academic online survey conducted as part of a Master’s thesis at Helmut-Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. The survey focuses on the use of social media, socio-political stress, and political behavior.

The theoretical background is based on concepts from political psychology, media effects research, and democratic theory. The aim is to explore how the use of social media relates to experiences of political stress and behavioral responses such as withdrawal or activism.

The survey is completely anonymous. No IP addresses or personal data are collected. It takes approximately 12–15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and you may stop at any time without providing a reason. Already submitted, anonymized data cannot be deleted as it cannot be linked to individual participants.

The questionnaire includes items on media use, perceived stress, coping strategies, political discussions, and demographic information. Some questions address personal emotional strain. If you feel uncomfortable, you may skip questions or withdraw at any time.

At the end of the survey, you have the option to enter a prize draw. If you choose to enter, your email address will be stored separately and deleted after the draw is completed.
