Intersectional Perspectives on Couple-Level Minority Stress in Polyamorous Relationships: A Qualitative Study

Welcome to our study “Intersectional Perspectives on Couple-Level Minority Stress in Polyamorous Relationships: A Qualitative Survey”!
We thank you for your interest in this study.

In this study, polyamory is defined as a relationship form in which individuals engage in multiple consensual romantic and potentially sexual relationships simultaneously. All parties involved are aware of the existence of all relationship partners and consent to the dynamic.

To participate in this study, you must currently be living polyamorously and be over 18 years old.

In this study, we are examining the experiences of people in polyamorous relationships. Specifically, we aim to gain insights into how different social identities, such as gender, sexual orientation, or ethnic background, influence your experiences and the dynamics of your relationships.

Below, you will find general information about the study procedure, data protection, and your rights.

Study Procedure

The following survey consists of collecting sociodemographic data, 13 open-ended questions, and four shorter questions regarding future research. The survey takes about 30 minutes, depending on the length of your responses. Please feel free to take your time.

Throughout the survey, you will primarily be asked open-ended questions, allowing you to describe your experiences, thoughts, and feelings in detail. You will also be asked to provide specific examples from your life. Please take your time to answer the questions thoughtfully. Some questions may touch on topics such as discrimination and stress, which could elicit emotional reactions. If this occurs, feel free to take a break or reach out to a trusted person or a professional counseling service. For example, you can reach out to the ressources listed on hessenbox.uni-marburg.de/getlink/fiXaj4oqjVx9hLFCFm3Q2Q/
Please note that you can skip any questions that make you uncomfortable.

Alongside these open-ended questions, we will also collect your sociodemographic data, such as age, gender, and ethnic background.

If you have any questions, please contact Vera Wolferstetter at Wolferst@students.uni-marburg.de.

Voluntariness and Anonymity

Participation in the study is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time without providing a reason, without any negative consequences. All collected data and personal communications will be treated confidentially and recorded anonymously. We won’t collect any information that could identify you, so please avoid sharing anything that might reveal your identity.

Data Protection

The collection and processing of your data, as described above, will be done anonymously. The anonymized data will be stored for 10 years. Since we cannot identify your dataset, it will not be possible to delete your data after you have completed the survey.

Your data will be shared with our service provider, SoSci Survey GmbH, located at Marianne-Brandt-Str. 29, 80807 Munich. SoSci Survey GmbH provides the online platform for the survey. To ensure the security of your data, SSL encryption (identifiable by HTTPS in the URL) with a signed certificate is used. No IP addresses are recorded. The server for SoSciSurvey.de is hosted in Munich at the data center of M-net Telekommunikations GmbH (www.m-net.de). Upon completion of the survey, your data will be stored on a secure university server. The project leader, Ms. Anne Vogel, will ensure the deletion of the data after the 10-year retention period.

Retention Period for Anonymized Data
